New Jersey native, Christian Sparacio took on the iconic Asbury Lanes, alongside Surfing For Daisy and Great Oblivion. Christian has been releasing his “granola rock” music since 2018 and it is finally beginning to get the recognition it deserves. With over 23 thousand monthly listeners on Spotify alone, his latest single, “Long Distance Lover” packs a punch a little too relatable, already gaining over 20k streams.
Heading into the venue I had no idea what to expect for the scenery, since I had not been to this venue before. I was quickly greeted with an incredible atmosphere. I panned around and took in the dimly lit bowling alley turned into a bar/venue. Something I absolutely adore about these small local shows is the environment of the venues. They all have their own unique twist compared to the standard large venues.
The stage soon lit up and Great Oblivion quickly hooked the crowd onto their unique band including a lap steel, guitar and upright cello. Prior to getting to the show I did not know Great Oblivion was going to be performing but it was a very pleasant surprise. They shared an incredible performance with captivating vocals and instrumentals from the band. The crowd sat back and took in their performance, hearing their songs that have yet to make it on streaming platforms yet.
Soon the moment I had been itching for was here. Christian walked on stage with his incredible band, “the yellowbrooks,” alongside him. He introduced himself and invited the crowd to come closer to the stage. With his guitar in hand he began to perform, completely mesmerizing the crowd with the band's sound. Something I loved so much about Christian’s music was the feeling of it being out of a coming of age movie. Though I adore his music on streaming platforms, there was something so magical about his live performance. His raw vocals shared a story and the instrumentals from the yellowbrooks really tied it all together.
As the show went on I took in the beauty of both the crowd and performance. The crowd was of all ages, ranging from children to grandparents; they were all here to simply enjoy the music, which really stuck with me. As I pondered the power of the music being shared, the night was quickly wrapping up. Before I knew it Christian thanked the crowd one last time and left the stage.
If you’re into artists such as Noah Kahan and Zach Bryan, you will absolutely fall in love with Christain Sparacio & the yellowbrooks! They’re stage presence is something I rarely see in these upcoming artists and it really is the cherry on top to the talent they have as a band. Their story telling and captivating vocals will have you hooked at your first listen! Big thanks to Christian for letting me come out to this show, we look forward to seeing what's next for him and the band.
